In the Room
It took several hours for the air conditioning to actually cool the room. It was the middle of the night before we were comfortable. The hotel and room were clean but very basic (there was a coffee pot in the room but no cups to drink from).
Friendliness of staff, location next to river, quietness , cleanliness of our room
Has a sad rundown look on the outside andcould use some tlc and the Continental breakfast could be expanded on. Ie:in choices such as fruits and muffins
It was close to our family who were having an event that weekend, and it was advertised as being a pet friendly facility.
I didn't find the hotel as clean as I am used too. I found the bedding and curtains, etc.very old and outdated, along with the hallways and the main entrance for check-in. I also did not appreciate the fact that when I checked out I paid for the room on my credit card, and then after the fact was billed on my credit card an additional $30. I am assuming that this was a charge for our pet that accompanied us. I did mention to the front desk when checking in that we had a pet with us. I strongly feel that this $30. charge was most inappropriate and the manner in which it was applied to my credit card was more inappropriate. I should have been advised at check-out that there was an additional charge....but $30!!!!! This charge was most extreme.
Nothing - never again and it jepordizes our consideration for a Howard Johnson in the future.
We booked through Howard Johnson, expecting it to be a Howard Johnson - it was not. Poor services. No heat in hallways. Advertises that bkfst avaliable - only toast, ceral. Obvioiusly being operated on the cheap - lights out in majority of the building - no visible sign from the road leading into the hotel. It is assumed the lone operator has purchased the hotel from your chain.
- Not too bad for the price / You get what you pay for - Fine for a place to sleep for 1 night
- Not as clean and comfortable for what we were expecting from a Howard Johnson. - Carpets were stained and not vacuumed. - Room smelled musty, not used in a very very long time -Beds are very hard BUT pillows were nice -No fridge or microwave in the room.
The price was good.
The hotel and rooms were very out dated. The continental breakfast was really quite poor. There was toast, four apples, two stale donuts, orange drink (not juice) and a some cereal. There were water leaks in the breakfast area also. I've stayed at other Howard Johnson's and really enjoyed them. This particular hotel one needs some work.
The only thing that was good was the mattress.
The hotel is dirty, outdated, the room smelled of mustiness our room had not been vacuumed ( we did not notice until we turned on all the lights and unpacked -too late to make a change then), the person at the front desk was so so, the furniture was from the 1950's, we only got 2 bath towels and when I asked for hand towels he gave me 2 washcloths, the kleenex box was empty and there was 3 rounds of toilet paper left - no new rolls, I had to go and ask for it at the front desk. The heating system was so noisy we couldn't sleep with it on and the breakfast was terrible; white bread, jam, cereal and regular coffee. I would never stay there again and I think this hotel is a disgrace to your name Howard Johson's. I have stayed at Hj in Toronto and it sure wasn't like this. Shame on you for putting your name on this dump!
It was the closest hotel to where we had to be.
This place is a bad joke. We waited almost half an hour at the front desk before someone appeared to check us in. The carpet had been removed from our room leaving only the underpad as a floor covering. The next morning, upon emerging from the shower, I discovered there was only one towel and washcloth despite having checked in as a couple. When we were ready to check out, again there was no one at the desk. The only good thing to say about the place is that we had a roof over our heads. Nevertheless, I'm glad it didn't rain.
Cheap and near the Sandbanks
Location: a very unpleasant part of town; clientelle looked more like bikers than business travellers
It seemed like the hotel concierge was there all weekend and did not get a break for over 48 hours. I would say that this hotel violates labour laws, but also violates cleanliness laws. In our kitchen we had blood on the floor when we first walked into the room. Shambles.
The staff was excellent and friendly.
The carpets need replacing desperately. The shower head is very low for tall people. There is no kleenex, and there is only one shampoo packet for 3 people. Unfortunately we missed breakfast as we didn't realize it ended so early. Other than that, the staff was super friendly, and even gave us their own food when we'd missed breakfast.
It would be nice if they can use a little fabric softener for their tower. And the lobby area could have some ventilation.
Special thanks do Debbie for shipping my dress, which I left in the room, to my home address.
There was a really annoying group of young people partying. Perhaps they should be isolated in a remote part of the hotal or advised not to party in front of other guests' room windows.
The hall way that a very disgusting and moulding/damp smell to it as well did the rooms when you first walked in, it made my stay very unplesant!
